With the arrival of Spring here in Saratoga Springs, NY the Oklahoma Training Track opened for the season (April – November). The Oklahoma Training Track is a training facility across the street from Saratoga Race Course.

In addition to stabling horses who will compete at Saratoga Race Course it has housing facilities for the many workers who care for the horses. Throughout the barn area there are several new dormitories that were constructed since the facility closed last November.

While it will be another few weeks before the barn area is full, prominent trainers such as Todd Pletcher, Chad Brown and George Weaver have begun shipping their horses in. The Oklahoma Training Track has both a dirt track and turf course for training and is open daily from 6 AM – 10 AM with a break at 8 AM to recondition the dirt track.

Catapult (one of our horses) worked a half mile this morning over the dirt track as he gets ready for his next race. His workout time of 48.77 seconds was the fastest time recorded today among the 19 horses who also breezed a half mile. Catapult is currently being pointed at the Longines Dixie Stakes (Grade 2) on Preakness Day at Pimlico Racetrack.

Our (Woodford Racing) six 2 year old colts are doing very well in Ocala, Florida. They will ship to Chad Brown’s barn area at the Oklahoma Training Track in mid-May. Check out this link to see them working out in Ocala.
