With 2015 coming to a close, it’s never too early to start thinking about the 2016 “Road to the Kentucky Derby”. Each year Churchill Downs offers four “future” wagering opportunities that culminate with the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May 2016.
The first “future” wagering opportunity concluded last week and the next three opportunities are offered in February, March and April. Like any “future” wager, the risk is high and the reward can be as well! The rules associated with Kentucky Derby “Future” Wagers are straight forward. Whatever horse you wager on must win the 2016 Kentucky Derby for you to win. There in is the challenge as many of the horses you could wager on over the next five months may not run in the Kentucky Derby, let alone win it!
Below are the names of the 23 horses offered in the first wagering pool and the payoff on a $2 wager should they win the 2016 Kentucky Derby.
