As we kick off the 2021 thoroughbred racing season I’m excited about our prospects. The stable is currently comprised of twenty horses with a balance of older horses, younger horses, fillies, colts, sprinters, routers, turf and dirt specialists.

Six of the twenty horses are two year olds and all of them are currently in Florida going through the “breaking” process to become racehorses. Some have been named and the others will be named prior to their first start. Here’s an overview of the two year olds.

  • Longest Day (Declaration of War – Tee Off) Ownership: Bouchey, Dorsman, Spendale and West Point Thoroughbreds

Longest Day is by the sire Declaration of War. We purchased this colt at the 2020 Keeneland September Sale in Lexington, KY and he is currently at Eddie Woods Training Center in Ocala, Florida. He will be trained by Christophe Clement who had considerable success in 2020 training two other colts sired by Declaration of War (Decorated Invader and Gofu). Both won multiple graded stake races on the turf.

  • Kansas Comet (Uncle Mo – Easy Feeling) Ownership: Albaugh Family Stables and Woodford Racing

Kansas Comet is by the sire Uncle Mo and was named after NFL Hall of Famer Gale Sayers. We purchased this colt at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Lexington, KY and he is currently at Barry Berkelhammer’s AbraCadabra Farm in Ocala, Florida. He will be trained by Dale Romans who also trained stakes winners Dennis’s Moment, Free Drop Billy and Brody’s Cause for the Albaugh Family Stables.

  • Candy Cool (Candy Ride – Dixie City) Ownership: Woodford Racing, West Point Thoroughbreds, Stonehaven Steadings)

Candy Cool is by the sire Candy Ride. We purchased the colt at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Lexington, KY and he is currently at the Eisaman Training Center in Ocala, Florida. Candy Cool will be trained by Shug McGaughey.

  • Yet To Be Named (Curlin – Value Stream) Ownership: Repole Stable, St. Elias Stable and Woodford Racing

The Curlin-Value Stream colt was purchased at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Lexington, KY. He is currently at Stonestreet Training Center in Ocala, Florida and will be trained by Todd Pletcher. Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable along with West Point Thoroughbreds owned 2017 Kentucky Derby Winner Always Dreaming.

  • Yet To Be Named (Quality Road – Patou) Ownership: Repole Stable, St. Elias Stable and Woodford Racing

The Quality Road colt was purchased at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Lexington, KY. He is currently at Stonestreet Training Center in Ocala, Florida and will be trained by Todd Pletcher. Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable owned 2019 Breeders Cup Classic Winner Vino Rosso.

  • Yet To Be Named (Union Rags – Una Mac Cool) Ownership: Repole Stable and Woodford Racing

The Union Rags filly was purchased at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Lexington, KY. She is currently at Payton Training Center in Ocala, Florida and will be trained by Todd Pletcher. Repole Stable owned Grade 1 winners Stopchargingmaria and Uncle Mo.

Two year old horses are exciting as they have not started their racing career yet. Each weekly update on their progress brings excitement, anticipation and a little bit of “what could be”!

Next week I’ll profile our 3 year olds.
